Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
Course Description:
The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) are designed to protect each individual’s basic right to liberty, freedom of movement and choice. This course provides an overview of DoLS and the roles and responsibilities of staff in the DoLS process.
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the background and purpose of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
- Discuss what constitutes a deprivation of liberty and situations in which the DoLS would apply
- Outline the process involved in applying for an authorisation under the DoLS
This course is appropriate for all staff who are supporting clients living with a learning disability.
Up to eight (8) hours can be earned completing this course.
You can earn one (1) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hour by completing the video and assessment questions. If you wish to extend your learning and earn up to an additional seven (7) CPD hours, you may download the extension exercise which is attached to this course.
